My research interests are centred around the biotic interactions of plants.

During my postdoctoral studies at Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW) I studied the interactions between range-expanding plant species and soil organisms. As these plant species are non-native in their new range, this information is necessary to predict the behaviour and impact of those plant species in their new range.

In addition to plants, I am also fascinated by soil organisms that live in close association with plants, such as arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi. More specifically, my current research aims to disentangle how anthropogenic disturbances shape AM fungal communities and the interactions between plants and these fungi.

I am supervising the PhD thesis of Siqiao Liu (co-supervisor Maarja Öpik).

I am Editor of the European Journal of Soil Biology.

Ongoing projects:

Returning researcher grant from Estonian Research Council: „Interactive effects of land-use related disturbances on the community composition, function and stability of AM fungal communities“ (2020-2022).

My full CV and publication list is available in ETIS.
